Wir lauffen in die Wett und traben gantze tagen
Nach unser Klincker Klangh, die wir in Händen tragen,
Wir leben von der Jagt, es jagt, wer jagen kan,
Und wenn wir schießen fehl, so gehn die Hunde dran.

Wir laufen um die Wette und traben ganze Tage –
nach dem Rhythmus unserer Klapper, die wir in der Hand tragen.
Wir leben von der Jagd und jeder der dazu in der Lage ist, geht auf die Jagd.
Wenn wir dabei einmal fehlschießen, hetzen wir die Beute mit Hunden.
