Summary edit

Description
Deutsch: Ein Formosan

Frei in modernes Deutsch:

English: A painting of a Formosan native by the German East Asia traveller Caspar Schmalkalden.

Approximate English translation:

We are racing and sometimes running for days
according to the rhythm of our flappers, which we carry in our hands
We are making our livelihood from hunting, and everyone who is able hunts,
If we miss our target we are setting our dogs on.
