Español: La obra representa el hambre que soportaron los madrileños durante la Guerra de la Independencia Española en los años 1811 y 1812, y los habitantes de dicha ciudad aparecen rechazando orgullosamente la ayuda de los soldados franceses, aunque la obra también constituye un intento de adulación al rey Fernando VII de España.
