Summary edit

Description
English: Electricity substation at Lepe. This takes 132 KV overhead power from Langley substation and sends it in underground and undersea cables to Gurnard on the Isle of Wight, whence it goes to the Wootton Common substation there. The places where the undersea cables cross the coastline can be seen at 146963 and 284348 . There are two 3-phase lines. Each phase has a separate cable and each cable has four vertical grey cylinders associated with it which, I assume, are there to pressurise the cable. The equipment almost off the picture at right is obsolete and was associated with a second line of pylons and another undersea cable, now disused.
