Summary
editDescriptionElegy in a Country Churchyard - April 2006 - Stoke Poges Church.jpg |
English: Before moving to Redhill we did have a look at the villages around Slough. Hard to believe, I know, but there are some wonderful places to live in the area. 'Where there's muck, there's brass' springs to mind. One of the most beautiful is the village of Stoke Poges where in 1750 Thomas Gray wrote his famous poem 'Elegy written in a Country Churchyard'. It's a place 10 miles from Heathrow but time seems to stand still so that he may still recognize the place, except for the Jaguar's, of course. |
