Italiano: Costantino De Servi, Ritratto di Eleonora di Francesco I de' Medici duchessa di Mantova, 1584. Miniatura (cm. 5,8 x 7,5).
"Come sappiamo da S. Meloni Trkulja (1977), questo ovatino era stato creduto il ritratto di una dama sconosciuta, di scuola francese, finché Karla Langedijk avrebbe proposto di identificarlo con quello descritto, nell'inventario della Tribuna (Archivio SBAS, ms. 70), come ritratto, appunto, di Eleonora di Mantova, di mano di Costantino de' Servi: ipotesi che appare molto convincente, anche confrontando un altro ritratto della duchessa, dipinto dal Pourbus, e conservato alla Palatina (Inv. 187). Secondo S. Meloni, è probabile che costantino de' Servi, pittore assai impegnato presso le corti europee ma attivo anche per i Medici, si fosse limitato, per questo ovatino, a copiare un ritratto più rappresentativo, eseguito, forse, in occasione del matrimonio di Eleonora con Vincenzo Gonzaga, che fu celebrato nell'aprile 1584. La cornice originale, in ebano, che era stata ricordata già come "mezo schatolino", è stata ritrovata assai recentemente (1976)" [1]
