English: The Naval Annual of 1887 contained this drawing of an Elswick 4.7 inch QF gun on Plate XII in the section Armour and ordnance. This gun was based on the Vavasseur system and had a caliber of L/35. It was not adapted by the Royal Navy, but apparently some were sold to Italy.
