English: Ely station, south end 1991. View northward across to the city, dominated by the great Cathedral; the remnants of the goods station intervene: ex-GER London - Cambridge- Ely/March - King's Lynn/Norwich/Yarmouth main lines, also junction of a secondary main line from Ipswich via Bury St Edmunds and in former days of a branch from St Ives. By 1991, the line from Cambridge through to King's Lynn was soon to be electrified. |
