Português: Embarque da Imagem de Nossa Senhora do Monte destinada aos militares madeirenses da 2ª companhia mobilizada para a Índia no paquete Quanza. Fotografia Perestrellos Fotógrafos, 29 de abril de 1961. Esta imagem, para ser entregue aos militares madeirenses na Índia, deveu-se à iniciativa do padre Jorge de Faria e Castro (1888-1971), ativo jornalista e publicista, que fora um dos padres madeirenses a frequentar, em 1915, o Curso de Oficiais Milicianos e, depois, a combater na Grande Guerra, tal como o primeiro padre madeirense a tirar a carta de condução, que conseguiu reunir fundos para a execução de uma imagem de Nossa Senhora do Monte para ser oferecida em nome da população madeirense aos militares em serviço em Damão. A pequena imagem deve ter sido executada em Braga, provavelmente na Casa Domingos A. T. Fanzeres, para a qual trabalharam, entre outros, José Ferreira Thedim (1892-1971), que, com o irmão, Guilherme Ferreira Thedim (1900-1981), em 1920, esculpira a primeira imagem de Nossa Senhora de Fátima, em madeira, que viria a ser colocada na Capelinha das Aparições, casa de imaginária religiosa que trabalhou para muitas das igrejas da Madeira. |
