Description |
English: Conductor, musician, and symphony advocate Karl Krueger was instrumental in organizing a permanent symphony orchestra for the Seattle community in 1926 as well as children's concerts and school lectures. Having studied music in Paris and Vienna, Krueger and his wife Emita considered Vienna their second home to Seattle. While acknowledging that the Vienna Philharmonic was the greatest in the world, Krueger felt that the American cultural and musical scene contained a unique vitality that would flourish in the next generation. Mrs. Krueger is sitting and posing with a dog on her lap in what is likely the Krueger home in this 1927 photograph. Date photograph was filed at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (date of photograph and file date may differ by a month or more): January 9, 1927.
