Summary

Description "Ending Segregation in the Military. On July 26, 1948, President Harry Truman issued Executive Order 9981, which ended segregation in the military based on race, color, religion, or national origin. Truman’s order was the first major blow to segregation, and a great victory for civil rights. It also gave real hope that more change was possible." Trading card from Harry S. Truman National Historic Site in Missouri, United States.
