É um espaço turístico-cultural, pois oferece um calendário de atividades gratuitas, para todas as idades como: saraus, oficinas, cursos certificados, palestras, concertos, dentre outras manifestações artísticas. Nesse sentido, as ruínas desse antigo engenho de açúcar, bem como a Base Avançada de Cultura e Extensão Universitária da USP, são hoje espaços privilegiados de difusão e produção cultural.
