Description
English: This is one of the two tandem-compound steam engines on the Steamboat Natchez. Each engine produces 1600 horsepower and has the dimensions 7 feet by 30 inches by 15 inches. The engines were made in 1927 and powered the towboat Clairton until 1962. In 1975, the engines were installed in the Natchez when it was built. Water is heated by an oil-heated boiler.The Steamboat Natchez was built in 1975. The boat is powered by a steam-powered rear paddle wheel. The Natchez sails from the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana.
