Description
English: A c. 1908 work of George Woodall of the English manufacturing firm of Thomas Webb and Sons, this engraved plaque depicting Venus and Cupid dates from the waning days of the cameo glass industry and seems to be consciously anachronistic with its High Classical aesthetic that hearkens back to the long-gone heyday of the style. As seen in the Jerome and Lucille Strauss Study Gallery during a March 2023 visit to the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.
