English: Entrance to Cedar Tree Stud The proximity to Newmarket, the centre of the horse racing industry in the UK, means there are a lot of stud farms in this area. They use a substantial amount of otherwise prime arable land, which should be noted when issues of food production and food security are raised against other landscape processes such as recreating semi-natural habitat and coastal erosion and managed retreat (the latter seems less reversible, but more land has been reclaimed through sedimentation and draining of coastal marsh than has been lost to cliff erosion). |
