| Description |
A shrine and a large flag of Azerbaijan mark the entrance to the Baku Martyrs' Memorial, more accurately Martyrs' Lane. It is estimated that about 15,000 people are buried in the cemetery. It is located on a hill in the south of the city and offers views of the Caspian Sea. Thousands visit the shrine to pay their respects to those who had given their lives for Azerbaijan's independence. More notes in subsequent captions. (Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 2017) |
