Italiano: Sul Corso Garibaldi, prima dell’inizio di via Gianturco, si trova l' "Epitaffio" un’ antica epigrafe su marmo del 1632 che informa ed ammonisce i residenti dell' area circa l’eruzione del Vesuvio avvenuta nel 1631. Fu il Vicerè di Napoli Emanuel de Guzman Zuñiga y Fonseca, conte di Monterey, a volerla per mettere in guardia i posteri dalla pericolosità del vulcano. L' eruzione causò circa quattromila morti e uccise seimila capi di bestiame.Il testo dell’iscrizione fu dettato dal celebre epigrafista G.B. Orsi de Liberano, della Compagnia di Gesù, che a quei tempi dimorava nel convento di Portici. E' considerato il primo manifesto di protezione civile pubblicato al mondo.

L' Éruption causé environ quatre mille morts et tué six mille têtes de bestiame. L'inscription a été dicté par le célèbre épigraphiste G.B. Orsi de Liberano, de la Compagnie de Jésus , qui à l'époque vivait dans le couvent de Portici. Il est considéré comme le premier manifeste de la protection civile dans le monde.

Non tenuto in considerazione, ha fatto strage degli incauti e degli avidi per i quali la casa e le masserizie contavano più della vita.
