Christmas Night
Lacaune
My blessed Family,
I must say goodnight to you on this wonderful Christmas Night for it has been such a happy, happy day. Never have I known so much joy crammed into a few short hours, and to be able to give it to them in full measure, thanks to the gifts of you all at home – there can never be anything like it again for me –
From the first great half-sob of joy at sight of 100 pairs of brand new sabots filled to their utmost capacity in a garlanded refectoire this morning to the last hug[?] of a precious knife[?] or stamp-book in bed tonight, it’s been one long carol of joy –
I’m going to write it all in detail later – it’s not finished yet for tomorrow we have plays by [page 2] all the classes. This is just to send you my arms and heart-full of love from my little Christmas fireside whither I’ve crept now that the tumult and shouting have ceased. And where I had all your precious letters and Christmas things this morning in the [??] dance. You’ll all be sitting round the parlor fire now talking over the day and the people and past times. But it’s a festive[?] Christmas that I’m thinking of, and the possibility of coming home the beginning or end of the summer.
Till I have a moment to tell you all about everything,
A heartful of love
from your Bun.
