Description
The artist was educated as a navigator and captained ships on the trade between Flensburg and the West Indies, and he also did some paintings of ships. He is only known to have made paintings between 1838 and 1846. That year he established a shipbuilding site in Flensburg, which existed until 1890. historischerhafen.de (in German).
