Al lado izquierdo el brazo armado de Viriato que sostiene una bandera con ocho cintas encarnadas, que simbolizan las ocho victorias del héroe sobre otros tantos cónsules romanos y una tira verde entregada por los Reyes Católicos por la ayuda que les prestaron los zamoranos en la Batalla de "Peleagonzalo" (1476) contra Juana la Beltraneja, y que asentó definitivamante a los Reyes Católicos en el Trono. Al lado derecho, un puente sobre ondas de agua, alegórico a la conquista del Rey Alfonso IX de la ciudad y puente de Mérida, llevando al frente para ello las huestes de zamoranos
