Summary edit

Description
English: The lake, at an altitude of about 2560 metres, is the source of the Ribera de Campcardos river. That river runs eastwards down the deep, glaciated Campcardos valley, and its waters run into the el Segre river near Puigcerdà.

The col beyond the lake is the Portella Blanca d'Andorra, where the frontiers of France, Spain and Andorra meet. The peak on the left is the Pic de Camp Colomer (2869 metres). This area lies within the Mont-Louis - Andorra granite massif. That granite pluton is of Hercynian age (about 300Ma).

The valley serves as upland summer pasture. A herd of horses can be seen grazing near the lake.
