DescriptionEstonian Museum of Natural History Specimen No 171542 photo (g1 g1-360 jpg).jpg |
Eesti: Tarphycerida. Fossiilne nautiloiid ehk laevuke, Eesti Ordoviitsiumi settekivimitest. Nautiloiide, kes kuuluvad mereliste peajalgsete klassi on teada ainult üks kaasaaegne perekond – Nautilus. Viimase esindajaid nimetatakse tihti elavateks fossiilideks. Esimesed nautiloiidid ilmusid Kambriumi ajastul. Ordoviitsiumis toimus nende kiire mitmekesistumine ja arvukuse tõus. Arvatavalt olid just nautioliidid Ordoviitsiumi merede suurimateks toitumisahela tipus paiknevateks röövloomadeks. Neil oli piklik sirge või kaardunud osaliselt kambriteks jaotunud tugev koda. Nautiloiidide kojad on suurimate Eesti Paleosoilisest aluspõhjast leitud fossiilide seas. Siinsete nautiloiidide kojafossiilide pikkus võib küündida üle ühe meetri. English: Tarphycerida. Fossil nautiloid from Ordovician limestone beds. Nautiloids is a subclass of marine cephalopods. Only one modern genus (Nautilus) of nautiloids is known, its representatives often referred as living fossils. The group appeared in Cambrian and became numerous and highly diverse during Ordovician era. Nautiloids were top predators in Ordovician seas. They had mostly long straight or curved chambered shells. Shells of nautiloids are among the biggest fossils discovered from Estonian Palaeozoic rock beds – more than 1 metre long shells of nautiloids (Orthoceratites) have been reported.
