English: Graph of estradiol and progesterone concentrations in a normal menstrual cycle.

The menstrual cycle hormones, estrogen (estradiol) and progesterone are measured and reported in different units. The ng/ml unit in which estradiol is reported is 1000-fold smaller than the pg/ml unit in which progesterone is measured. For this reason the estrogen levels are measured on the left of the graph and the progesterone on the right. It is now the international standard to use pmol/L (rather than pg/ml) for estrogen--to get to pmol/L multiply the pg/ml value by 3.67. It is now the international standard to use nmol/L (rather than ng/ml) for progesterone--to get to nmol/L multiply ng/ml by 3.18.
