| Description |
O nome “Estufa Fria” resulta do facto de esta não utilizar qualquer sistema de aquecimento. As diferentes características das outras estufas [para plantas mais exóticas], com cobertura de vidro, por isso com temperatura mais elevada, distinguem-nas como estufas quentes. O ripado de madeira que cobre a Estufa Fria, substituindo os velhos estores de madeira usados em tempos, serve para proteger as plantas do rigor do Inverno e do calor excessivo no Verão. Essas ripas inamovíveis condicionam a intensidade da luz, proporcionando uma temperatura adequada ao desenvolvimento de espécies originárias de diversos países ou regiões: China, Austrália, México, Perú, Brasil, Antilhas, Península da Coreia entre outras.
