Description

Dandelions don't seem so bad now, do they?

OK, let's all acknowledge this thistle is fabulously well adapted for survival in a hostile environment teeming with starving herbivores. For example, this plant knows better than to send its flowers up on stalks. No, they're safely nestled in a bed of unspeakably awful thorns.

With that out of the way, I hope we can all agree it's a barbaric plant that clearly doesn't want you to touch, eat or even look at it. Frankly, I'm not so sure it wanted its picture taken.

And yet, doesn't it have a wild and unique beauty? Aren't the buds little jewels in a basket of thorns?
