Summary
editDescriptionEucalyptus tereticornis 7th Brigade Park Chermside L1090789.jpg |
English: Eucalyptus tereticornis, the Queensland blue gum, is the largest and most common tree in 7th Brigade Park. It can be found in all parts of the park, but reaches its greatest proportions on the floodplains. It flowers prolifically between May and September and is a major nectar source for wildlife. Flowers are usually have cream coloured stamens but some trees have a pink base to the stamen. Older specimens (>100 years) have hollows in the trunk and limbs that are used as living and breeding space by birds and mammals. Bark is shed in short ribbons, but there is usually a persistent stocking of bark at the base on older trees. |
