Evacuation of a sniper victim, February 1966

Summary edit

Description
English: Medical team members continue giving 3411411 Private (Pte) John Densley saline as they carry him to a helicopter for evacuation to hospital. Minutes earlier the team had rendered on the spot treatment to the soldier, who was wounded in the abdomen by a Viet Cong sniper's bullet. He was taking part in Operation Roundhouse, a search and destroy operation which severed communist food and arms supply lines in Couth Vietnam's war zone D. Possibly assisting with the litter is 215250 Pte Adrian 'Eddie' Tesler and 38320 Pte Peter Holz. Pte Densley was the first Australian wounded soldier to have the Australian Dangerously Ill scheme (AUSDIL) invoked. His mother, Mrs Christina Densley, was flown from Victoria to Saigon to assist in his recovery from the life threatening injuries that he sustained.
