Description
English: Soldiers from the Scots Guards practice searching an enemy after a section attack in the jungle on Exercise Mayan Storm on 25 November 2021 In November 2021, the 1st Battalion, The Scots Guards (1SG) deployed to Belize on Exercise MAYAN STORM. They were supported by a range of other units, including the 4th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 SCOTS), the Royal Lancers (RL), and the Household Cavalry Regiment (HCR). Personnel were training in the jungle environment to test out their basic soldiering skills in a harsh setting, while also conducting firing ranges and adventurous training (AT). The British Army has maintained a presence in Belize since its independence. Currently the British Army Training Support Unit in Belize enables close country and tropical environment training to troops from the UK and international partners.
