| Description |
English: Explanatory sign for The Labyrinth, Crich Tramway Village Explains that the origins of labyrinths are lost in the sands of time. A labyrinth consists of a single meandering route, and differ from mazes which have false pathways and dead ends to confuse those who follow its winding course. The sign goes on to explain that the tramway village labyrinth is based on a traditional German design with interlocking spirals, which is known as "Wunderkreis" or Wonder Ring. The limestone blocks used for this labyrinth were supplied from the adjacent quarry by Aggregate Industries. |
