Title
Confessional, Toledo
Description
English: Rops, an avant-garde Belgian graphic artist, abandoned his early realist style for a symbolist approach characterized by erotic, fantasy, and satanic overtones following a meeting with the French poet Charles Baudelaire (1821-67). These traits, however, are not apparent in this drawing of a Spanish priest kneeling in a confessional listening to an unseen penitent.
