Description

A U.S. Navy McDonnell F-4J-28-MC Phantom II (BuNo 153777) of Fighter Squadron 74 (VF-74) "Be-Devilers" in flight. VF-74 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (CV-59) for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 2 March to 15 September 1981.

Note the special scheme for the 20th anniverserary of converting to F-4 Phantom II painted on side: "First in Phantoms 1961-1981", together with the "Phantom" logo. VF-74 was the first operational F-4 squadron in 1961 and finally converted to the Grumman F-14A Tomcat in 1983.
