Description An armed U.S. Navy Grumman A-6E Intruder (BuNo 154137) from Attack Squadron VA-196 Main Battery and a McDonnell F-4N Phantom II (BuNo 150651) from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron VMFA-323 Death Rattlers are moving to the catapults of the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CV-43), on the morning after the aborted rescue mission during the Iran Hostage Crisis, on 25 April 1980. Note the special identification markings on the wings. Both squadrons were assigned to Carrier Air Wing 14 (CVW-14) aboard the Coral Sea for a deployment to the Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean from 13 November 1979 to 11 June 1980.
