Während auf dem Vordruck oben links sich mit einer offensichtlich nachträglich handschriftlich aufgebrachten Zierschrift der Hinweis findet auf die wird unten rechts neben dem Bild auf die Fertigstellung des Gebäudes durch den Lindener Architekten Carl Arend hingewiesen. Die Aufnahme zeigt vor dem Neubau ist das Treiben auf dem Lindener Marktplatz, während auf der Schauseite des Rathauses zwei mit Pferden angespannte Kutschen auf spätere Dienste warten. Oben rechts auf der Karte ist das goldfarben erhabene geprägte Wappen der Stadt Linden vorgedruckt; die leichte Beschädigung machte die Karte für den Sammlermarkt erheblich preisgünstiger. Möglicherweise handelt es sich bei der nicht nummerierten Ansichtskarte und im Verlag der Buchhandlung Hermann Ellermann erschienenen Karte um eine der frühesten bekannten Ansichtskarten aus dem Werk des Fotografen Friedrich Astholz junior, der später mehr als 1000 fortlaufend nummerierte Ansichtskarten vor allem mit Ansichten aus Hannover produzierte.
