DescriptionF3H-2 VF-14 CVA-42 NAN4-61.jpg | A McDonnell F3H-2 (F-3B) Demon (BuNo 145292) of fighter squadron VF-14 Top Hatters awaits its turn on the catapult of the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) in 1959/60. VF-14 was assigned to Carrier Air Group One (CVG-1) for four deployments to the Mediterranean Sea aboard the Roosevelt between 1959 and 1963, before the squadron converted to the McDonnell F-4B Phantom II. A Douglas A4D-2 Skyhawk has just been launched from the starboard catapult, while another is waiting on the port catapult to be launched. |
