Summary edit

Description A U.S. Navy Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat of Carrier Air Group 19 (CVG-19) is loaded aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer (CV-21) at Naval Air Station Alameda, California (USA). Boxer was deployed to the Western Pacific from 11 January to 13 June 1950. CVG-19 operated four squadrons of Bearcats. The carrier returned just two weeks before the outbreak of the Korean War. By the time, Boxer returned to Korea in August 1950, the F8Fs had been replaced with Vought F4U-4 Corsairs. Thus, the F8F missed a combat deployment.
