Summary
editDescriptionF9908 Silver Charger (5963625356).jpg | Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR EMD/Budd 3-car lightweight articulated dmu No.F9908 "Silver Charger" which worked the "Burlington Zephyr", showing the 600hp A1A-A1A power car at the National Museum of Transport, St Louis, 8/70. 21 cars were built in 7 sets 1934-35 for four "Zephyr" expresses, the "Flying Yankee" and the "City of Salina". They were probably the fastest (110mph), most advanced, luxurious, prestigious trains in the world at the time but were soon replaced by the EMD "E" locos with streamlined coaches owing to the limitations of their fixed formations. | |||||||||||||
