Corregidor5 - 6 MAI 1942 :

Après la chute de Bataan , les Japonais débarquent avec des chars à Corregidor, dernière île des Phillipines encore sous contrôle des militaires américains et philippins. Le rapport de forces et la présence de nombreux blessés conduit le général américain Wainwright à hisser le drapeau blanc. Un timbre des Phillipines surchargé "CONGRATULATIONS / FALL OF / BATAAN AND / CORREGIDOR / 1942"(Y&T Philippines Occupation Japonaise No 2) est émis par les Japonais le 18 mai.

Un timbre du bloc US consacré aux événements de la seconde guerre mondiale en 1942 est consacré à l'«enfer de Corregidor». (Y&T USA No 2102).
