Description 208-PU-168-G-46: President Franklin D. Roosevelt Broadcasts Christmas Speech. President Franklin D. Roosevelt of the U.S. sits before a battery of microphones in the library of his family home at Hyde Park, New York, as he broadcasts his annual Christmas message to the American people in which he announced the appointments of General Dwight D. Eisenhower as Commander in Chief of Allied forces in the European Theater of Operations and Lieutenant General Carl A. Spaatz as Commander of the U.S. Army strategic bombing forces against Germany. The President declared in his address that Germany would be hit by the Allies from every direction. Office of War Information Collection. (2016/08/30).
