 Special postmark for the First Flight of the Lufthansa Vilnius-Frankfurt/Main on the 30th of March, 1992

The envelope is the special postal stationary envelope (PSE) of the former USSR (Soviet Union) from to the "650th anniversary of the first mention of the Lithuanian water castle Trakai". Although the independence of the re-founded Lithuania was conceded by the then USSR officially in September 1991, remain stamps and postal stationary products of the former USSR postal valid for an transitional period until to the , but inofficially also beyond because of lack of paper and corresponding postal products. The present envelope was therefore postal valid and real used (postmarked with Vilnius, , used as “First Flight Cover” (FFC) for the first Lufthansa flight Vilius-Frankfurt/Main).
