Deutsch: Frankfurt am Main: Das Denkmal für Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805) in der Taunusanlage, geschaffen vom Bildhauer Johannes Dielmann (1819-1886). Das Denkmal selbst ist 4 m hoch und steht auf einem gleichhohen Syenitblock aus dem Fichtelgebirge. Syenit, nach dem ursprünglichen Fundort Syene, heute Assuan/Ägypten benannt, ist ein seltenes Gestein, das hauptsächlich in unterschiedlichen, attraktiven Grauschattierungen vorkommt. Aufgestellt wurde dies Denkmal ursprünglich auf dem Paradeplatz neben der Hauptwache, der dann in Schillerplatz umbenannt wurde. Das Denkmal stand hier mit dem Rücken zum Gasthof "Zum schwarzen Bock", der später abgerissen und als "Pariser Hof" neu errichtet wurde. In diesem Gasthof soll Friedrich Schiller anlässlich der Frankfurter Aufführung seines Drams Kabale und Liebe abgestiegen sein. 1938 wurde das Denkmal dann auf den Hort-Wessel-Platz verlegt, den vormaligen Rathenau-Platz. Im Mai 1955, zum 150. Todestag Schillers, wurde das Denkmal auf den jetzigen Standort in die Taunusanlage versetzt. |
