Description

North American FJ-4 Fury The F-86 started as the straight-winged FJ-1 Fury, a basic, "P-51 with a jet engine" that the Navy specified so they could get into the jet airplane business with the greatest chance of success. The USN bought a few, but the Air Force wasn't interested. Adding swept wings and tail, the speeds went up, and more engine power didn't hurt. The Navy stayed in touch and bought additional Furys, closer to swept wing Saber but not exactly the same. Eventually, a broader chord wing for carrying big air-to-mud loads was added and those were the last Furys
