Français : Texte inspiré par des suggestions de Pascal et seul mode d'emploi connu de la machine arithmétique, la personne ayant copié ce texte reste inconnue, ce ms. a été par la suite annoté et collationné par l'abbé Bossut. Il a appartenu au bibliophile Augustin Renouard, dont on trouve une note ms., au début, datée du 13 avril 1827 et signée R. Sur le plat de la page de titre, ex-libris étiquette : "Malet-Daubant 52, Faubourg St Honoré Paris 8°".

Confer sur ce manuscrit : Courrier du Centre international Blaise Pascal, n° 4, 1982, p.6-11 ; Courrier du Centre International Blaise Pascal", nº 8, 1986, p. 4-24 et Mesnard, Oeuvres complètes, t. IV, p. 1569-1584 (commentaire + reproduction complète du texte). Contient : une première partie consacrée à la machine arithmétique ; une deuxième partie copiée sur les " Curiosités mathématiques " publiées par Grillet vers 1673 ; une troisième partie consacrée à un traité de calcul à la main et à l'extraction des racines. Portr. en front. signé : "Hopwood sc.".
