Description
English: "Old ships never die, their souls live on." The earlier Trishul was a Whitby class frigate built by Harland and Wolff Shipbuilders, Belfast UK. She was launched in Jun 1959, commissioned on 13 Jan 1960 and served the Indian Javy for 32 years. While in Service it learned the following Battle Honours:-

(a) Liberation of Goa (1961) (b) Indo-Pak War (1971) (c) Operation Pawah (1987-1989).

The present Trishul is the reincarnation of the legend of a renowned predecessor. Built by Baltic Shipyard, St Petersburg, INS Trishul in her new incarnation was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 25 Jun 2003. She is a 125 meter long stealth frigate, displacing 4000 tonnes and with a top speed in excess of 30 knots. The Kamov-31 Airborne Early Warning Helicopter onboard is a force multiplier that enhances the Ship's operational capability.

INS Trishul is destined to redefine the role of the Indian Navy in the new millennium not only by her massive fire power but also by the fine 'Men of Honour' who man her. INS Trishul has been affiliated to The JAT Regiment of the Indian Army on 10 Jan 2009. This monumental affiliation epitomizes the true spirit of jointmanship and camaraderie.
