DescriptionFairfield State Hospital.jpg |
English: The Fairfield State Hospital is a huge place that was built 1933 to house the insane patients overflowing from two other state hospitals in Connecticut. The place is as big as a Ive League School. I am not sure but it must be over a hundred acres and dozens of buildings and houses. (map)
Most of the buildings there have these white belfrys all over the place. From a distance the place looks nice and quaint. From close up the buildings look like a nightmare of an insane asylum. The hospital is closed but the grounds are open to the public and there are sports fields and good places to fly kites. I was disappointed at this trip. It was overcast and the light was pretty plain. I hope to go back sometime soon. |
