| Description |
English: Fake Reef-wall Separates Alpha Lake from River Thames. Stops lake being tidal and then is used by Blue Circle Cement Sailing Club and other water sports clubs connected to the Quarry company works. Club accessed from Salt Lane. Reef made of 'gabions' (wire cages filled with rocks) wired together to make a wall, then back filled with soil to make a more natural embankment. Path on top used by Saxon Shore Way (long distance footpath) from Higham Saltings to Cliffe Fort. Cliffe Fort, jetty and works in background. |
