Description

"Falcon Hunt", a textile by Herman A. Elsberg, on display as part of the "Jazz Age" exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.

Elsberg (1869-1938) was an American textile designer and textile collector. This textile of silk and metallic thread is in a satin weave, with brocading. Elsberg designed this textile some time between 1920 and 1930, and manufactured it in a variety of colors in his factory near Lyon, France. The design is based on artwork often found in the margins of French medieval manuscripts.

This piece was originally purchased by Paramount Studios for use as a set design prop.
