Summary edit
DescriptionFarmer's Bridge Junction, Birmingham - geograph.org.uk - 982776.jpg |
English: Farmer's Bridge Junction, Birmingham. Also known as Old Turn Junction, or Deep Cuttings Junction.
To the immediate left (not that little arm through the bridge) is the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal which joins the Coventry Canal near Tamworth. To the right, the Birmingham Canal Navigations Main Line leads to Wolverhampton, then the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Aldersley Junction. Straight ahead, beyond the bridge, the Worcester and Birmingham Canal passes Gas Street Basin before its right angle turn at The Mailbox. Much of the land by the canals in central Birmingham has been or is being developed to a high standard, and is a credit to the city. Hopefully, in time, such quality of environment will spread further outwards along the canals from the centre. Oh, yes. Don't the Pyracantha (firethorn) berries add a lovely splash of colour to this early autumn scene? |
