English: Fawkes Hall, Lambeth
Detail fromː A view of the Antient Manor House of Fawkeshall or Vauxhall, Surrey. Engraved From A Drawing In Pen And In k, In The Possesion Of Mr. John Simco With A Plan Of the Site & Environs. A view of the Vauxhall Manor House in 1644. The map at the bottom shows the area at the time of publication in 1813. The site of the Manor House is marked as being close to the site of the then "intended Vauxhall Bridge" in the top centre of the map. The present MI6 headquarters would be sited to the right (north east) of the bridge, on the site of what was then a "Vinegar manufactory", and very close to the site of the Manor House. On the left (to the south west) of the intended location of Vauxhall Bridge are the Cumberland Gardens and Hope Wharf - the current site of the recent St George's Wharf development. Wandsworth Road runs of the left hand edge of the map. Also marked on the map are The Royal Oak pub, the Vauxhall Brewery, Tea Rooms, the Turnpike, Nunns Stables, the Vauxhall Pottery, The George and Dragon Pub, the Watermans Houses, and Messrs Johnson & Co. Taken from "Londina Illustrata. Graphic and Historic Memorials of Monasteries, Churches, Chapels, Schools, Charitable Foundations, Palaces, Halls, Courts, Procefsions, Places Of Early Amusement and Modern & Present Theatres, In the Cities And Suburbs of London & Westminister." edited by Robert Wilkinson.
