English: Feeding the birds in Dartmouth Park Dartmouth Park was opened on June 3rd 1878. The 50 acre site was originally leased at £1 per annum from the Earl of Dartmouth on a 99 year lease: the freehold was acquired in 1919. The original budget of £2,500 was exceeded by 400%. The park lost 2 acres and entrance to the town when the dual carriageway 'Expressway' was constructed in 1973. The park adjoins the 1700 acre Sandwell Valley Country Park. |
