[1941 war] ich in Kaluga knapp vor Moskau im Lazarett, 1942 in einer ruhigen Stellung in Rußland, 1943 in Warschau na und diesmal darf ich diesen sogar in der Heimat verleben. Wie froh und dankbar müssen wir trotzdem sein. Ich bin es auch obwohl ich viel viel lieber bei Dir zu Hause wäre. Für Morgen habe ich mir eine schöne Geburtstagsüberraschung aufgehoben, es ist Dein Einschreibebrief der gestern an kam. Morgen früh will ich ihn öffnen und mich daran freuen. Auch etwas Kuchen habe ich mir noch aufgehoben den esse ich dann zum Kaffee, das soll dann mein Geburtstagsfrühstück sein.
Nun werde ich 24, wie schnell vergeht doch die Zeit ich fühle mich noch garnicht so alt, gottseidank, ich kann es mir garnicht vorstellen. Kommt es Dir nicht auch komisch vor daß Dein „kleiner Hansl“ schön langsam ein „alter Herr“ wird? Andere Mütter sind bei diesen Alter ihrer Söhne schon Schwieger- bezw. Großmütter, na daß ist und wird wohl in Absehbarer Zeit nicht der Fall sein bei Dir. Wir haben ja beides noch Zeit, gell! -
So mein Mamschl Nun will ich schließen und in den Geburtstag hinein schlafen. Doch schnell muß ich Dir noch sagen daß ich Dich sehr liebe habe.
