Summary edit

Description
English: The former Felician convent on the south side of Center Avenue - part of Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church in North Tonawanda, New York - as seen on a January 2023 afternoon. The second newest building in the present-day church complex, the two-story, hip-roofed convent was completed in December 1953 at a cost of $100,000 to a design by Buffalo-based architect Joseph Fronczak, and was used as a residence for the Felician Sisters who staffed the neighboring parochial school until its closure in 2008. Fronczak employs here a restrained interpretation of Tudor Revival architecture where the heavy massing, bluntly pointed arches, and chromatic interplay of dark brick and light-colored stone trim are all evident (the latter two especially at the entrance with its Gibbs surround), but other stylistic hallmarks are downplayed or absent entirely. Aside from the dormitories, the building contained a communal kitchen and dining room, study hall, and a small chapel.
